Why We Support First Responder Families
Police officers and firefighters routinely carry stress that most of us never see—shift work, exposure to trauma, and the weight of protecting strangers at personal risk. When a medical crisis or financial emergency hits their own household, pride and privacy can make it hard for families to ask for help.
Across the country, “Guns & Hoses” charities were created so that peers and neighbors could respond quickly—often before public attention fades. Utah’s version of that story includes charity sports events where co-workers and community members rally resources for a specific family or cause.
What Community Giving Can Cover
- Medical travel and treatment costs not fully covered by insurance
- Household expenses during recovery or disability
- Support for dependent children during a parent’s illness or loss
- Grants to partner nonprofits aligned with first-responder charitable traditions
Our Role as a 501(c)(3)
Utah Guns & Hoses Charity Inc. provides a formal charitable channel (EIN 81-4165430) so donors can give with confidence that gifts are handled under federal tax-exempt rules. We file annual IRS Form 990-N e-Postcards consistent with our size and report our principal officer and mailing address publicly.
If you know a Utah first-responder family in crisis, or if you represent a department interested in partnering, contact admin@utahgunshoses.io.vn. We review requests consistent with our mission and governing documents.
